In addition to the fireworks, there are also a variety of musicians and singers that are set to grace the university’s Canada Day Stage. Enjoy the musical talents of 2014 JUNO nominated Indie rockers Born Ruffians at 7:00 p.m. and Barenaked Ladies singer, songwriter and musician Steven Page at 8:30 p.m. Located at 200 University Avenue West, this celebration is an eight-minute drive and 35-minute walk from the Pinegrove Apartments.
Waterloo Region Museum
If you’re looking for Canada Day festivities the whole family will enjoy, the Waterloo Region Museum is throwing the perfect celebration. Located at 10 Huron Road, the museum is an 18-minute drive from the Waterloo Apartments. Enjoy free admission to the museum and Doon Heritage Village, as well as live musical entertainment and outdoor games. Pack your picnic basket full of tasty homemade goodies or purchase a mouth-watering BBQ lunch onsite. The museum and village open at 9:30 a.m. and close at 5:00 p.m. and provide the perfect place to spend Canada Day until the fireworks start.
Cambridge Celebrates Canada Day
Prepare for a full day of free activities, events and friendly competition at Cambridge Celebrates Canada Day, which runs from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Kids can enjoy a catch-and-release fishing derby at 8:30 a.m. and a band and float-filled parade that starts from Bishop and King Street at 1:00 p.m. More adult-oriented entertainment includes live music, a beer garden and vendors with food and merchandise. Make sure to stay around for the firework display that will be set to music. Located in Riverside Park at 49 King Street West, this exciting celebration is a six-minute drive and 30-minute walk from the Pinegrove Apartments.
